N Scale Kato #176-1308 F3B Denver & Rio Grande Western

The Denver & Rio Grande railway ran the California Zephyr in the middle route between Denver and Salt Lake City. The mountainous Rockies necessitated additional power to pull the train so the D&RGW had a full A-B-B-A lashup of F3s to pull the passenger train.

These F3 models feature Kato's new DCC-friendly F-unit mechanism, as well as their magnetic knuckle couplers, illuminated pre-printed number boards, and amber LED headlight.

The bodyshells feature correct "passenger" pilot detail and correctly lack the roof mounted dynamic brake fan.

All units are powered by the powerful Kato five-pole motor with dual flywheels with electrical pick-up from all of the blackened metal wheels.
